App Store Content Policy
Last updated October 19th, 2026
This policy applies to Harbor when installed from Google Play or the Apple App Store. It adds to the Content Policy for the servers run by FUTO, listed on the Servers page. Where the two differ, this policy takes precedence for those installs.
Why there is a separate policy
Apps distributed through Google Play and the App Store must follow those stores' rules for user-generated content. Both require that the app prohibits objectionable content in its policies, that users can report content and block other users, and that reports are acted on. The rules below exist to meet those requirements. They apply to content created or viewed through a store install, not to the network as a whole.
Prohibited content
When using a store install, you agree not to post or share:
- Sexually explicit content, or sexual content involving minors in any form.
- Hate speech: attacks on people based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, nationality, sexual orientation, sex, or gender identity.
- Harassment, bullying, or threats against any person.
- Content that promotes or glorifies violence, terrorism, or self-harm.
- Non-consensual intimate imagery.
- Content that facilitates illegal activity.
- Spam, scams, malware, or impersonation of other people or organizations.
Content in these categories is labelled and hidden from store installs. It is removed from FUTO's servers only where it also falls under What we remove in the Content Policy.
Filtering
Posts labelled Hate, Self-Harm, Sexually Suggestive, Sexually Explicit, or Violence are covered with a warning by default and must be revealed to view. In Settings, Content Moderation, you can hide them entirely. These settings apply on your device.
Reporting and blocking
Report any post from its "…" menu and choose a category. Block any user from their profile to stop seeing their posts and interactions. We aim to review reports from store installs within 24 hours and to hide content that violates this policy from store installs.
Contact
Questions, appeals, and anything a report form does not cover: [email protected], or chat.futo.org.
Changes
We may update this policy. Changes are published on this page with the date at the top.
